Three furniture designs by two great New Zealand designers that are available for order from The Flock have just been announced as finalists in the HOME magazine annual design awards.
1. David Moreland's Elevation tables were chosen because of their self assured and well proportioned design that 'invokes a great sense of calm' (Home magazine Jun/ Jul 2013). Made from powdercoated steel frames with an option of Ply or Oak tops, they are available as a side table from $825, a coffee table from $998 and a dining table from $1077.
2. Nathan Goldsworthy's Kimono stool is inspired by the folds of a Japanese Kimono and made from a single piece of thick aluminium that is then powdercoated in soft chalky colours that were inspired by vintage Japanese images of the 1960's and 1970's. The Kimono range is set to expand in the future and Nathan Goldsworthy will offer a chair and a laptop table to add to the stool.
Due for release soon, the Kimono stool will retail for $599.
3. Another of Nathan Goldworthy's designs that was chosen as a finalist was his collection of Monarch tables. These tables are classic Goldsworthy in that they display his fluency with practical manufacturing processes, which in this case has produced a cost effective and elegant stool and table base that can be used for a variety of functions. The powdercoated steel legs are available in a range of colours and they can be partnered with painted or naturally finished tops as circular stools and coffee tables or rectangular dining tables. Stools from $350, tables from $500.
