Kester Black jewellery

New in our online store - Kester Black jewellery by expat Kiwi Anna Ross who is living and working in Melbourne.  Her latest collection Mockingbird asks viewers to question the value of jewellery in its natural state. Minerals and crystals are naturally occurring ornate forms that are occasionally overlooked.  She asks 'why is it that we always feel the need to cut these precious stones to create
jewellery, when their organic forms have the potential to be even more exquisite?'  The photos above reveal her playful take on these forms and patinas with the production of her 'Diamond Earrings', 'Old Ring' and 'Splinter Ring'.

Getting cosy in Sumner

(photo: Lilith Crawford used with permission)

If you want to see something woolly, colourful, square and big, just head out to Sumner for the Giant Container Cosy that is now brightening up our village.   Since the installation last week for the Sumner Street Party it has made many people smile and hopefully brightened up their day.

The idea to create a Container Cosy came alive in late August 2011 when Sumner resident Christine wanted to pretty up the daunting looking shipping containers that line the Sumner streets.
Women from all over New Zealand, Australia  and Europe knitted and crocheted up a storm of more than 800 amazing looking squares. There are flowers, hearts and embroidery and every imaginable crazy pattern one can come up with but also "beginners" squares from people who just learned to knit.  We think that the goal to make the locals and visitors smile has succeeded!

Drive thru.

Last Tuesday the 27th of March an elderly gent smashed through our shop at high speed and took out everything in his path. He is fine and so are we but it may be a few weeks before the shop is open again and our online store is running due to huge stock losses. Stay connected via our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Flock-Design-Boutique/173698009310958 or call Emma on 021328098.

Handmade Arrows from NYC!

If you are looking for something unique to beautify your home , look no further because we have got it! Who would have thought that apart from being useful in archery, arrows can actually look stunning when hung on your wall.
Handmade by Fredericks and Mae from wood, feathers, paint and thread, these arrows come in striking colour combinations.
Other than arranging them grouped , one or two arrows will also look good in a small space or placed together with other items of your fancy.
You could even hang your favourite jewelry off them!

bliss in a teacup

If you haven't already been to Flock and spotted these lovely goodies by bliss in a Teacup it is about time you do so!

Richard Brittain and Rebekah Nathan are a couple from Auckland and the clever people behind this great label. They both enjoy reusing materials and have come up with the great idea to create jewelery, bunting and bookmarks out of reclaimed wood. They especially love wood because of the stories it carries and believe it is best for us and our planet.
We think so too and are pleased that we can be stylish at the same time with bliss in a teacup creations!
